Long before I ever dreamed of creating a foodie blog or business, I used to love listening to the Food Programme. It is so interesting. Today I was particularly taken by the programme dedicated to a cheese hero - Major Patrick Rance. The programme was fascinating - I listened in total admiration to the story of him writing blank cheques for artisanal cheese producers just so that the nation's cheese heritage could be sustained during the post war famine of plastic food and industrial scale production. The piece about the detrimental impact of the Milk Marketing Board was particularly enlightening. So, if you have a spare 30 minutes, I urge you to meditate on this photo of the sainted man whilst listening to the programme via this link - bon appetit!
